Meissen – Braunsdorf

Julius Eduard Braunsdorf was a flowers painter who worked for Meissen from 1858 until 1906 after studying at Dresden Art Academy. While Meissen didn’t allow artists to sign their work, we can only attribute certain paintings on Meissen porcelain to Braunsdorf. In general, “Braunsdorf” is used today to describe a distinctive style of porcelain painting – roses or other flowers over dark brown or cobalt blue background.
