Born in New York. Emigrated to Berlin in 1900 where he studied at the Academy of Fine Art. In the 1920s and 1930s Scheurich freelanced for Meissen creating 111 figural models, then for KPM starting in 1939, when Adolf Pfeiffer, who had directed the Meissen factory, became a director at KPM.
At the time, Sheurich’s figurines were unusual, difficult to produce and hard to sell. Meissen was often losing money by purchasing his models, but did so knowingly to support what they considered to be the most important porcelain designer of the 20th century.
