Production of the Second Gold Series from mid 1870s thru the 1880s coincided with the end of the Series with Lavender Rims (circa 1866-1886). The subjects were based on drawings by Adolf Iosifovich Charlemagne (or Sharleman, 1826-1901), a battle painter, Professor at the Academy of Arts and Court Painter. As oppose to earlier subjects on military plates, Charlemagne liked putting members of different regiments into the same scene.
