Gardner “National Costumes” series

Around 1810, Gardner started a series of porcelain figures in national costumes representing various countries and regions of Europe and Asia. 4 of these figurines were modeled based on colored engravings from the book “The Costume of the Hereditary States of the House of Austria: displayed in 50 colored engravings / with descriptions” by M. Bertrand de Moleville, 1804.
