\nCh\u00e2teau de Saint-Cloud<\/span><\/a> was built on a site overlooking the Seine at Saint-Cloud in Hauts-de-Seine, about 5 kilometres (3 miles) west of Paris. The gardens and the estate is now known as the Parc de Saint-Cloud.
\nThe ch\u00e2teau was expanded by Philippe I, Duke of Orl\u00e9ans in the 17th century and by Marie Antoinette, Queen of France and Navarre in the decade of 1780. In the 19th century it was used by Napoleon Bonaparte, by the royal family during the Bourbon Restoration, by Louis Philippe d’Orl\u00e9ans, and by Napoleon III. The palace was burned down in 1870 during the Franco-Prussian War and its walls were demolished in 1891.<\/p>\n
