A visual artist of many genres: painter, illustrator, set and costume designer. However, Shchekatikhina&#8217;s landmark works were undoubtedly created in the porcelain workshops of the State Porcelain Factory which she joined at the invitation of <a href=\"https:\/\/antiqueref.com\/index.php\/soviet-porcelain\/sergei-chekhonin\/\" data-type=\"URL\" data-id=\"https:\/\/antiqueref.com\/index.php\/soviet-porcelain\/sergei-chekhonin\/\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#046694\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><em>Sergei Chekhonin<\/em><\/mark><\/a> in 1918.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Her upbringing in the family of Old Believers and the influence of her icon painter grandfather sparked the artistic fire that would brightly burn throughout her life. Later, as a student of Nicholas Roerich and <a href=\"https:\/\/antiqueref.com\/index.php\/russian-porcelain\/ivan-bilibin\/\"><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0);color:#046694\" class=\"has-inline-color\"><em>Ivan Bilibin<\/em><\/mark><\/a> (who she married), Shchekotikhina soaked in their romantic imagery and love of folklore, while in the studios of Maurice Denis, Paul S\u00e9rusier and F\u00e9lix Vallotton she developed her colouristic and ornamental feeling. Her talent in decoration brilliantly matched the Revolutionary pathos of early Soviet porcelain. In her plates and tea sets, the restless energy of avant-garde is masterfully coupled with the refined aesthetics of&nbsp;<em>Mir Iskusstva<\/em>.
