German sculptor listed in Meissen records as one of the \u201cmodelers of historicism\u201d in late 19th-century period of the factory\u2019s historicist revival and reinterpretation of earlier styles. Meissen acquired 7 of his models (all shown below). H\u00f6lbe had studied at the Baugewerbeschule in Holzminden and the Kunstakademie Leipzig. From 1871 until 1883, a student and collaborator with the sculptor Johannes Schilling (1828-1910) in Dresden working on a variety of large-scale sculptural programs in Dresden, and gaining valuable experience in architectural and monumental sculpture. Set out on his own in 1883.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
