Demosthenes (384-322 BC) was a Greek statesman and orator in ancient Athens.
Renowned for his powerful speeches against King Philip II of Macedon and his efforts to rally the Athenians against Macedonian expansion. His speeches, particularly the “Philippics,” are celebrated for their persuasive force and eloquence, and have had a lasting influence on rhetoric and political thought.
