The “tortoiseshell” service (Service fond écaille et figures imitant le bronze) was delivered, according to the registers of the Sevres Manufacture, to the Emperor on December 5, 1804 at the Palace of Fontainebleau. It consisted of 72 plates. Unfortunately very few have survived.
