While he’s mostly known for more classical models, Andresen turned to themes from Nordic and Germanic mythology and legends. In the 1880s and 1890s, the Meissen manufactory created the figures of “Wodan” (or Odin), “Hermann” and “Thusnelda” in a similarly expressive manner in addition to “Dietrich von Bern”.
