In Greek mythology, the centaur Eurytus was slain by Theseus at the wedding of Pirithous and Hippodamia. Eurytus, overcome with wine and lust, attempted to abduct the bride, Hippodamia, sparking a chaotic brawl between the Lapiths (Pirithous’s people) and the Centaurs.
Theseus, a guest at the wedding and a close friend of Pirithous, intervened to rescue Hippodamia. In the ensuing battle, Theseus confronted and ultimately killed Eurytus by throwing a wine krater at his head. The battle, known as the Centauromachy, continued until the Lapiths, with the help of Theseus, drove off the Centaurs
