Service Marli Rouge was made for Napoleon I and delivered to Cháteau de Fontainbleau in October 1809. The service contained amongst various shapes, 180 plates. Each plate was painted with a different butterfly in the middle within a ribbon-tied floral garland reserved on a gold band, the rim with a gilt foliate border on a tomato-red (rouge) ground within a gilt rim.
