Le Palais Royal côté du Jardin, 1843.
Painted by Louis Léon Bucquet
The Palais-Royal was a French royal palace in Paris. The screened entrance court faces the Place du Palais-Royal, opposite the Louvre. Originally called the Palais-Cardinal, it was built for Cardinal Richelieu in 17th century.
After July Revolution of 1830 when the Duke of Orléans ascended the throne as Louis-Phillipe I, the palace remained the principal residence of the new monarch.
