Subject is from the Bible. Cain, a farmer, made an offering to God from his harvested crops while Abel,
a shepherd, sacrified a lamb. God was pleased with Abel
and refused Cain’s offering. Cain in anger killed his brother Abel. This group was shown at the London International
Exhibition of 1862.
