Many Minton vases and figural pieces were called “Clodion” because they were designed in the style of or decorated with relief figures modeled after Claude Michel (1738–1814), a renowned French Rococo sculptor known professionally as Clodion. His work often featured joyous scenes of nymphs, satyrs, and putti, which Minton adapted onto their majolica and parian wares.
