Sevres plate Service particulier de l’Empereur – Vue du Simplon-route par les rochers de la Meillerie

In 1801 Napoleon ordered the construction of the road to the Simplon pass, in the Swiss Valais, and then in 1808 the works ordered by him for the construction of the Ourcq canal and the Villette basin were completed.
The view was taken from a painting by the Frenchman Jean-Louis Demarne known through the engravings.
