Depicts a rescue dog bringing an avalanche victim back to the hospice.
The painting was presented in Paris at the Salon of 1810 (number 791 of the booklet), with the following description: “One of those dogs trained to go in search of men who perish or get lost while crossing the Alps, found a poor little child who had found refuge under a snow vault, and did so much by his caresses, that the child climbed on his back and was brought to the hospice by his intelligent driver.”
