Sevres Plate Olympic Service 29 Ganymede And Eagle

In Greek and Roman mythology, Ganymede was a beautiful Trojan prince abducted by Zeus (Jupiter in Roman mythology) in the form of an eagle. Zeus brought Ganymede to Mount Olympus, the home of the gods, where he became immortal and served as the cupbearer to the gods, pouring nectar and ambrosia, the divine drink and food, into their cups. The myth of Ganymede is often depicted in art, with the eagle representing Zeus/Jupiter.
