The myth of Orpheus and Eurydice tells the story of a musician, Orpheus, who descends into the underworld to retrieve his deceased wife, Eurydice. While Hades agrees to let her return on the condition that Orpheus doesn’t look back at her until they reach the surface, he ultimately fails to uphold his end of the bargain, losing Eurydice forever.
