“The natives of the Mississippi region (American Indians) are brought to Louis XV at Fontainebleau”
In the mid-1700s, the Choctaw people who were originally from Mississippi, Alabama moved to Fontainebleau area. As British and American settlers continued to claim lands, the Choctaw moved to Louisiana and formed alliances with the French. When the Indian Removal Act was signed into law, the Choctaw were the first tribe forced onto the “The Trail of Tears”.
