Isocrates (436–338 BC) was a prominent ancient Greek rhetorician and educator who established one of the first permanent institutions for liberal arts education in Athens. He was also a prolific writer whose works, particularly his essays on rhetoric and politics, significantly influenced later rhetorical theory and practice.
